If your iPod or iPad is covered by Apple's Limited Warranty or AppleCare we are able to arrange replacement for you. To determine if your device iscovered by warranty, enter the serial number into the Online Service Assistant section on the Apple Support site.

Note: We may need to examine your proof of purchase document to confirm your warranty status.

ipod_nanoFor warranty repairs the following process applies:-

  1. You need to drop your device into our service centre. We will immediately check it for damage (ie. damage resulting from accident, liquid damage, disassembly, unauthorised service and unauthorised modifications, etc.) and we will confirm that it is covered under warranty.
  2. We will then diagnose your device and confirm that it needs replacing. This can take some time (ie. a faulty battery can take over 24 hours to diagnose as we will have to run a playback test).
  3. When diagnosis is complete and we have found your device needs replacing we will submit information to Apple and request a replacement device.
  4. When we have received your replacement iPod or iPad from Apple we will call you to advise it is ready for collection.
  5. Note: Your replacement device will be covered by your existing warranty or a 90 day warranty, whichever is the greater.

 

What if my iPod or iPad is not covered by warranty?

As an authorised Apple Service Provider, iLove Computers can also arrange service for your iPod or iPad. We do not repair individual components of your device (ie. touchscreen or buttons), but replace the entire device through Apple's Out of Warranty service program. The pricing for repair exchange or battery exchange of your device is shown in the right hand column.

Note: Before replacing your iPod or iPad under the battery exchange program we will need to run a battery playback test to confirm that the battery has expired, before providing an exchange.

 

ipad-oneCan I troubleshoot my iPod or iPad?

Yes. Please visit Apple's iPod support site or the iPad support site for helpful troubleshooting of your device. It will explain how best to determine if your device has a software or hardware issue. If you have reviewed the articles on the website, and you're still not sure if your device requires service, you can bring it into our service centre and we can diagnose it for you.

Note: If we restore your device to iTunes on one of our Macs and that solves the problem, a $20 diagnostic fee will be charged. This fee will be not be charged if you choose to go ahead with repair/replacement.

 

Will the data on my device be preserved?

No. You will receive a replacement iPod or iPad that will not contain any of your data, songs, or after-market personalisations. Before you submit yourdevice  for service, it is your responsibility to keep a separate backup copy of the data stored on your iPod and reinstall that data. You can backup your device by connecting it to iTunes on your computer and ensuring it syncs.

Attention iPod touch customers: Following service your replacement iPod touch may have a newer version of the OS. As a result you may need to update your App Store applications to ensure compatibility with the new OS. If you experience a problem with an application purchased from the App Store, check iTunes to see if an update is available or contact the application vendor directly.

 

ipod-touchWill the custom laser engraving on my device be preserved?

If your original iPod or iPad was personalised by Apple, your replacement device can be personalised with the same text or you can choose to leave it blank. If your original iPod was engraved by another company, your replacement iPod will not be personalised.

 

How long will my iPod/iPad service take?

If your iPod or iPad is not personalised, you can expect service to be completed within approximately 2-3 days from the time you leave your device with us. If your iPod is personalised, you can expect service to be completed within approximately 1-2 weeks.

Note: We currently hold stock of some of the more popular iPod models and may be able to exchange them for you on the spot, but please do not expect that this will be the case.
